Our Strengths
Council on Accreditation (COA) reported Farm Resource Center's Organizational Strengths:
- The outreach concept is an effective modality of connecting resources to those in need. The outreach program manual is detailed, informative, well thought-out and concise. It is a great document identifying what is expected and how the work is to be delivered.
- Collaboration is a keystone to the success of the work of this organization.
- The organization has a unique and effective method of providing supervision, training, consultation and support to outreach workers who are dispersed through out the organization's catchment area.
- Job descriptions for staff and management are clear, concise and incorporate specific client-focused tasks that support the organization's mission.
- The linkages and referral agreements supporting the work of this organization are impressive.
- There is a committed front line staff undertaking challenging and rewarding work.
- There is a well documented policy and procedure manual governing organization's mandated and day-to-day operations.
- The organization's county resource guide is a wonderful way of capturing the local resources each county has to contribute to assist the organization in its services to its client base.
- The forms used to deliver and document service provision are well integrated and user friendly.
- The Action-plan document is a powerful tool to ensure that both consumer and outreach worker are clear as to the nature of the work and if the outcome identified is reached.
- The organization was very impressive with how it ensures that consumers, often isolated and resistant to contacting mainstream organizations, are connected in a manner that allows them the opportunity to access required services consistent with their "culture."
- Staff function as service facilitators. They respond directly to the consumers who require assistance in their home, assess their needs, and provide support and linkages to local service providers.
- Each outreach worker cultivates community volunteers.
- The conceptual design of this service delivery system is most unique and is very effective in meeting the consumers' needs.
- The size of the organizations allows them to quickly respond to new areas of need. An example of this is their ability to respond quickly to an area where a factory, mine etc is closing and to offer support and referrals to individuals facing changes, positively impacting both the consumer and the community.
